Spania Dolina Winter Twilight

An incredible display of sunset colors at the famous overlook of Spania Dolina. The entire valley received a decent snowfall the very same day. Spania Dolina is a famous mining village in Central Slovakia. The hill in the middle of the village houses the Church of Transfiguration.

A detail of the Fountain of Ganymede, captured during a sunny October Afternoon. Fountain of Ganymede is located in front of historic opera house in Bratislava Old Town. The fountain was unveiled in 1888 after the building was finished.

The old loghouses of Vlkolinec Village in a late summer morning light. Vlkolinec is a hilltop village located above the town of Ruzomberok, Northern Slovakia. It has been a part of UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993 for its accurate display of the historic village settlements in Central Europe. It consists of more than 40 loghouses. Its current population is less than 20.

A Black&White rendition of the houses of Vlkolinec - a hilltop village located in Northern Slovakia. It has been a part of UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1993 for accurately displaying the way of life in the villages of Central Europe.

Last sunrays of October sun illuminate the face of Corgon in Nitra Old town. Corgon is the urban name for an Atlant statue, located on the corner of a small palace near Nitra Castle. It was made in 1820. According to the legend, it depicts a local smith, known for his strenght and fearlessness during the Ottoman conquest of Hungarian kingdom in 16th century.

One of two old water mills located deep inside Kvacany Valley in Liptov, Slovakia. The mill was built in the first half of 19th century. The Waterwheel is located inside the building.

A quiet September morning on the overlook of Spania Dolina, one of the most unique villages of Slovakia. Spania Dolina is an ancient mining village, located just north of Banska Bystrica in Central Slovakia. It was the source of copper ore and the first mining operations took place in 11th century. To this day, the village and surrounding areas hold about 80 buildings and devices dedicated to mining. The Church of Transfiguration is center of the village.

A cloudy September dawn at the beautiful fortress in Mikulov, Moravia. This fortress was one of the several castles owned by the Dietrichstein family. The castle was almost completely destroyed by the massive fire at the end of World War Two. It was restored to its former glory in the mid-20th century.
