Minorite monastery courtyard opens up like a hidden oasis of tranquility, shielding visitors from the coastal sun and sea breezes. In this wide-angle photograph, I wanted to showcase the magnificent symmetry and harmonious design of the Cloister of St. Francis in Piran, Slovenia. The composition captures the two wings of the vaulted arcades diverging from a central pillar, leading the eye directly toward the open-air center of this historic sanctuary.
While my other photo close-up focused on the textures of the individual arches, stepping back reveals how the entire Minorite monastery courtyard functions as a masterclass in Renaissance architecture. The bright tones of the Slovenian stone tiles and pristine walls bounce the afternoon light effortlessly, creating a bright, warm and welcoming atmosphere that still feels deeply contemplative.
