The St. Bernardin Tower caught my attention while I was browsing the travel photography spots on Photohound.co, and I knew I had to explore this location myself. Rising high above the modern resort coastline, this 15th-century bell tower stands as a majestic reminder of Istrian history. In this photograph, the grand stone staircase framed by lush Mediterranean pines leads the eye directly toward the illuminated ruins against a vibrant blue sky. The St. Bernardin Tower is the most prominent surviving part of a former Franciscan monastery and the Church of St. Bernardine, constructed back in 1452. While the location didn’t turn out to be as spectacular as I hoped, it’s nice to have this photo, taken in crisp september morning light in my portfolio.
