Ve Stínadlech—dark alleys reveal their secrets at night. This photograph is part of a black and white mini series inspired by the mysterious part of an unnamed town called Stínadla from Jaroslav Foglar’s iconic adventure novels. Although the town is originally unnamed, several streets in Prague’s old town capture the mysterious feeling perfectly.
The stories of Rychlé šípy (The Rapid Arrows) follow a club of five boy heroes who repeatedly venture into this labyrinth of eerie streets. It is a world ruled by a secretive organization known as the Vonts. Stínadla is a place of nocturnal meetings, hidden messages, and a tense, dark atmosphere. By stripping away all color, I wanted to bring this literary place to life, where every shadow tells a story and every corner holds a secret.
Now, it’s your turn. Channel your inner detective, pack your curiosity, and explore the ancient, winding alleys of Prague’s Old Town after dark. See if you can find these hidden pathways, decipher their silent history, and experience the thrilling atmosphere of Stínadla for yourself. It is an exploration of a silent city that only reveals its true character after midnight—heavy with mystery and hidden history.
