A monochrome rendition of a lone tree under the dark starry sky. A LED flash light was used to lightpaint the tree and foreground.

Monochrome Night

The Orion Constelation rises above the abandoned vineyard on a cold March evening. This photo also serves as a cautionary tale - the purple tones in the sky are caused by the lights of nearby towns. The top portion of the sky is completely black, as it should be at this late hour. Despite the severe light pollution, we can still enjoy a starry sky in the rural areas of our country. People living near or in big cities can only see the brightest stars or no stars at all. We should do everything possible to reduce light pollution and bring back the natural starry sky to as many people as possible.

Bales and Stars

On the Cross-Road

A rare conjunction of Moon and Jupiter, that occured on April 14th 2013, hides behind the clouds during the twilight hour.

Obscured by Clouds

The Wheel of Time is a concept found in several religions and philosophies, which regards the time as something cyclical and repeating. The same could be said about the stars as we percieve them from Earth. Each night they perform their circuar journey around the North Star. This photo presents the 75 minute journey of the brightest stars across the northern sky. The LED flashlight was used to illuminate the tree. Artistic liberty: during the capture, a very large satellite or International Space Station flew right across the frame, leaving a bright trail. During the post-processing, I painstakingly removed this trail to present my vision of the scene.

The Wheel of Time

The last rays of setting Sun provided a beautiful blue color to the sky on the night of the new Moon. I only had a small window of oportunity to capture the twinkling stars against this beautiful color, just before the darkness took the reign over the sky. A LED flashlight was used to illuminate the tree.
