Piran Peninsula top-down view captures the beauty of Slovenia’s most famous coastal landmark from a bird’s-eye perspective. Looking straight down, this multi-frame panorama emphasizes the striking contrast between the organic, tightly packed labyrinth of terracotta rooftops and the deep, shifting gradients of the turquoise Adriatic Sea, just as the first sunrays of the day hit the buildings at the top of the frame. A single small boat cuts through the sea, leaving a delicate white wake that adds a sense of motion and scale to the otherwise still waters of the early morning.
At the very tip of the peninsula sits the Church of Mary of Health, often referred to as St. Clement’s Church, recognizable by its distinct round lighthouse tower. This site has guarded the town’s sailors since the 13th century. My drone panoramas usually take several minutes to capture, so I am incredibly glad all the elements—the cool early morning tones, the warm light of the sunrise, and the moving boat—all came together perfectly for this final photo.
