Venice 2015

In March 2015, I was fortunate to visit Venice again after nearly 8 years. I was looking forward to explore this fascinating city again, but my visit was greatly affected by constant drizzle and rain. Nevertheless, I tried to capture as much as I could. The resulting photos are different than I wanted, but that’s the beauty of life – sometimes we get different things that we want and that’s not always a bad thing. Hopefully I’ll be back to this magnificent city soon.

Rotenstein 2015

At the end of May 2015 I visited the medieval festival along with a couple of friends, that took place at the castle called Červený Kameň (Red Casle or Rotenstein in German). Each year this two day festival attracts thousands of visitors. Various groups present their arts, crafts and abilities, including swordfighting, medieval drama, falconry, horse riding and jousting. I especially enjoyed show by Saint Bavon falconers. Along the traditional birds of prey, they showcased a bald eagle. It was great to see this magnificent bird in person for the first time.

IBU Biathlon World Cup Nove Mesto na Morave 2015

In February 2015, I had an incredible opportunity to attend the biathlon event of the season – the IBU World Cup in Nove Mesto na Morave. Top biathletes, beautiful weather and massive attendance. In other words – a perfect saturday. My photogallery is from sprint competitions. Laura Dahlmeier won the 7,5 km women’s sprint and Jakov Fak of Slovenia was the fastest man on 10 km track.

La Traviata Open Air Opera Lednice Moravia

In the middle of August 2013, I attended the 4th annual open air opera in Lednice, Czech republic. These events are being held each summer in the courtyards of beautiful Czech and Moravian castles. This year’s, the opera of choice was Giuseppe Verdi’s La Traviata. The tragic lovestory (as is the norm with operas) features Violetta Valeri, the famed Parisian courtesan and Alfredo Germont, a young bourgeois from provincial family. Miroslav Dvorsky, the Slovak tenor, sang the role of Alfredo. The role of Violetta was sang by Michaela Katrakova, the young soprano from Czech republic and I must say her performance was excellent.

Tennis Classic Bratislava 2012

In November 2012, I photographed the 5th annual Tennis Classic exhibition in Bratislava. The line up consisted of Martin Klizan, Dominik Hrbaty, Marian Vajda and the guest of honor – Novak Djokovic. Djokovic and Vajda were enjoying themselves tremendeously and their show was great to watch. Klizan tried too hard to play a regular tennis match. During the Charity auction, Djokovic’s gear was sold for the record-breaking 40 000 Euros.

Don José abandons his military duties for Carmen and leaves his childhood sweetheard Micaela, but loses Carmen’s love to Escamilio, the toreador. In the end, Don José kills Carmen with a knife.
