Banska Stiavnica Calvary Complex, Autumn 2018Slovakia
A colorful autumn evening at restored Banska Stiavnica Calvary – one of the largest complexes of its kind in Europe. It was built between 1744 and 1751. Located on the Scharffenberg hill in the eastern part of the city a total number of 22 chapels and churches depict the final hours of Jesus and the seven pains of his mother Mary. In 2007 it was listed as one of 100 most endangered cultural sites. Since then, the restoration effort has been under way.
