Šarkania jaskyňa (The Dragon Cave) is a breathtaking natural monument located in the heart of the Súľov Rocks in Slovakia. This 58-meter-long fissure cave is famous not only for its prehistoric archaeological finds and remains of the cave bear but primarily for its massive portal that frames the surrounding wilderness.
During the autumn season, the cave offers a truly surreal experience. When viewed from the dark interior, the vibrant oranges and fiery reds of the forest outside align with the jagged limestone edges of the entrance. This unique natural framing creates a striking visual illusion—a glowing, golden gaze reminiscent of the legendary dragon Smaug.
