A scenic view looking up Aškerčeva ulica in Ptuj old town, leading toward the historic church tower under a blue sky.

Ptuj old town streets show off their quiet charm during a sunny day. I remembered Aškerčeva Street from my visit in 2014. Back then, all the houses on this narrow street looked shabby. Eleven years later, you can clearly see the contrast between the old and the restored buildings. Life slowly comes back to the very heart of the oldest town in Slovenia.

In the background, the church tower rises high against a deep blue sky. Its unique purple-pink onion dome serves as a perfect focal point. You can easily spot it from almost every part of the town. Exploring the winding alleys of Ptuj feels like stepping back into a medieval fairytale. Every corner tells a story from the town’s long past.

Artist’s note: I retouched a car parked near the archway to preserve the clean look of the scene.
