Pre-wedding photography in Prague has become a massive global phenomenon over the last decade. Indeed, even before sunrise, the historic center often transforms into an open-air photo studio. Couples mostly from all over Asia travel thousands of miles to capture their romance against the backdrop of Europe’s most beautiful architecture. Therefore, this backstage photograph offers a unique look into the process behind these picture-perfect moments.
For many Asian couples, pre-wedding photoshoots are a crucial wedding tradition. They take these photos months before the actual wedding day and display them proudly during the wedding banquet. Furthermore, Prague offers a fairytale atmosphere that is deeply romantic and unique. The combination of red rooftops, gothic towers, and golden morning light creates a dream setting that they simply cannot find at home.
In the title shot, the low morning sun illuminates the bride’s veil on Charles Bridge. While she poses with her bouquet, her husband and the photographer frame the scene in the foreground. Capturing these moments usually requires waking up before dawn to avoid the usual tourist crowds. However, quite a lot of bystanders can still gather and observe the photoshoot, including me. In fact, I have been following this fascinating trend for years. My portfolio also features a shot from 2016, where another Asian couple posed under the famous Astronomical Clock.
