Piran alleyways dawn moments offer a glimpse into the quiet soul of this Slovenian coastal gem. I captured this photo in the early morning at the very tip of the Piran peninsula, known as Punta. Bathed in the warm glow of a lingering street lamp, the image highlights the magnificent baroque stone portal of the Church of Our Lady of Health, also known as the Church of St. Clement.
The intricate volute and shell motifs above the heavy wooden doors contrast beautifully with the deep, clean blue of the twilight sky just before sunrise. In the center, a beautifully pruned mulberry tree casts dramatic, sweeping shadows across the empty pavement, creating a natural canopy. Dating back to the 13th century and later remodeled in the baroque era, this historic site stands where the town directly meets the Adriatic Sea.
