Nový Svět Evening showcases the lower section of Černínská Street as it gently slopes down toward the historic Nový Svět quarter in Hradčany

Nový Svět Evening captures the magical atmosphere of one of Prague’s most picturesque and romantic hidden gems. This photograph, taken during the golden hour just after sunset, showcases the lower section of Černínská Street as it gently slopes down toward the historic Nový Svět quarter in Hradčany.

The composition highlights several authentic architectural details:

  • The Cobblestone Street: The historic pathway is beautifully illuminated by the warm, golden glow of traditional wall-mounted lanterns, which used to be gas operated.

  • The Statuary: On the left, next to the lush green trees, stands a historic stone statue of St. John of Nepomuk.

  • The Architecture: On the right, the scene is framed by a massive historical wall with a prominent supporting buttress, belonging to the nearby Capuchin monastery gardens.

  • The Hidden Path: In the center, the bend of the street reveals charming old houses with red-tiled roofs. Following this bend would lead you to a miniature square featuring the famous curved house and Kavárna u Raka, a romantic cafe hidden inside a traditional log house.
