Black and white photography of Farská Street in Bratislava, with the Castle in the fog.

Farská Street in the nightly winter fog with the Bratislava castle in the distance. This narrow alleyway survived the past regime, as much of Bratislava’s historic Old Town and the entire Jewish Quarter below the castle were demolished in the 1960s to make way for modern infrastructure.

Standing in the shadows of these old walls, I watched as the mist partially swallowed the Bratislava Castle in the distance. The contrast between the worn textures of the few remaining historic buildings and the ghostly silhouette of the Castle creates a sense of mystery. For me, this image is a tribute to the spirit of the city’s past—a quiet corner of Bratislava that still looks and feels as it did generations ago.
