Golden Lane Twilight, Prague Castle, Czech Republic

The world of magic opens when the twilight hits Prague castle and Golden Lane, which I consider to be the real Diagon Alley. The Golden Lane is a narrow street located inside the giant Prague Castle Complex. Originally built to house Rudolf II castle guards, the small houses later became home to Goldsmiths in 17th century. Brimming with tourists during the day, it’s well worth to visit during the long opening hours in the Summer months to soak in the peaceful atmosphere and beauty of many corners of the Prague castle.

Cesky Krumlov Summer Midday

A beautiful summer midday view of the medieval town of Cesky Krumlov. Behind the old houses with tiled roofs is the large castle complex of Cesky Krumlov and The Church of St. Vitus to the right. Midday blue sky and puffy clouds can look stunning as well.

The house of Black Madonna is a prime example of cubist architecture, designed by Josef Gočár in 1911. The spiral staircase is one of the many cubist treasures hidden both inside and outside of the building. When looked at from the proper angle, it indeed looks like an incandescent light bulb.

A handful of visitors enjoy a quiet evening at 3rd courtyard of Prague Castle, which is dominated by Saint Vitus Cathedral. This beautiful Gothic Cathedral is the largest of its kind in Czech republic. It was my first visit to Prague Castle during the long opening hours and I really enjoyed the place without the crowds.

Franz Kafka Rotating Head, Prague, Czech Republic

An abstract view of Franz Kafka’s Rotating Head Statue, designed by Czech sculptor David Cerny. The bust consists of 42 stainless steel plates that rotate indepndently. The total weight of the statue is 39 tons. I really enjoyed my attempts to capture sections of this kinetic artform.

A cloudy September dawn at the beautiful fortress in Mikulov, Moravia. This fortress was one of the several castles owned by the Dietrichstein family. The castle was almost completely destroyed by the massive fire at the end of World War Two. It was restored to its former glory in the mid-20th century.
